This PV-DV53 is a Digital Video camcorder that offers precise image quality and color accuracy. The superior quality of digital video resulting from higher horizontal resolution, yielding sharper picture detail and component color sampling, preserves more color information than analog. The built-in Digital Still Camera mode allows consumers two ways in which to capture their memories in a single, compact package: digital video and digital still photos.

  12/16-bit audio: 16-bit offers one set of stereo tracks and achieves the same quality as CD, while the 12-bit mode creates two sets of stereo tracks. Audio dub is possible when recorded in 12-bit mode.
• Dual Digital Electronic Image Stabilization (DEIS)
  Panasonic invented the Digital EIS to compensate the unintentional hand and camcorder movement to stabilize your recordings. You can use the Dual D-EIS technology even in the playback mode to remove the jitter from previously recorded video.
• Built-In Digital Still Camera
  Allows you to use your digital camcorder as a digital still camera by capturing six seconds of a still image with audio in VGA (640 x 480) resolution onto the mini DV cassette.
• IEEE-1394-FireWire
  Using the industry standard IEEE-1394 PC interface, it allows you to connect the digital camcorder to a compatible computer for advanced editing. Also allows you to produce duplicate copies of your recordings without any loss in picture quality with similarly equipped camcorders or VCRs.

  Allows you to transfer still images captured on the Mini DV tape by connecting the camcorder to the computer, through the optional RS-232C cable and software.

  Equipped with an optical zoom that magnifies the image up to 10x by increasing the focal length of the lens, this feature acts like a telescope to produce closeup shots with extraordinary clarity, and with the 700x digital zoom you will be able to bring the objects up to 700x closer, by electronically magnifying the images.

• Progressive PhotoShot Mode
  This feature helps to eliminate fuzziness by capturing the image data of a singular moment and then temporarily storing the event in two separate field memories. The two images of the exact same moment are then combined, with no time lag, producing images that are better quality than standard recorded stills.
• Picture-in-Picture
  Allows you to insert a previously taken digital still image into the video you're recording. The still image is taken using the PhotoShot feature and appears on the right side of the video you're recording. The video and miniaturized still shot then appear together during playback.
• Cinema Mode
  Gives the Ability to record video in wide screen mode, giving you a 16:9 aspect ratio that's the same as a movie screen. When played back on a television the result is dramatic looking cinema-like movies at home
